Fractaria draws every picture from mathematics alone — no photographs, no textures, no images fed in from anywhere. But the application it draws them in, the site you are reading and the videos we publish all stand on work other people did and shared. This page names it.

Engine and libraries

The application is built with the Godot Engine 4.7.1 — © 2014-present Godot Engine contributors, © 2007-2014 Juan Linietsky and Ariel Manzur — under the MIT License. Godot in turn bundles a large number of third-party libraries, listed exhaustively for this exact engine version in the copyright file that ships with Fractaria.

Steam integration uses Steamworks.NET — © 2013-2022 Riley Labrecque — under the MIT License, and the Steamworks SDK — © Valve Corporation — redistributed under the Steamworks SDK Access Agreement.

Typefaces

Both the application and this site are set in Manrope — © 2019 The Manrope Project Authors — and IBM Plex Mono — © 2017 IBM Corp. Both are used under the SIL Open Font License, Version 1.1.

Where the full licenses are

Naming a license is not the same as providing it, so Fractaria ships the complete text of every one of them, in a THIRD-PARTY folder that travels with the application — inside the app bundle on macOS, beside the executable on Windows. In it: the MIT License for Godot and for Steamworks.NET, Godot's own copyright file covering everything it bundles, and the SIL Open Font License for the two typefaces. A build that is missing any one of them does not get released — the check that says so runs on both platforms and stops the build, rather than warning about it.

The pictures

Every image on this site and in our videos was rendered by Fractaria. Nothing is retouched, nothing is composited, and nothing is generated by AI. Where a picture came from a preset that someone in the community published, it is theirs, and the Gallery page says whose.
